Domaine Drouhin
is home to 90 acres of hillside vineyards in the heart of Oregon's Red
Hills, producing stunning Pinot noirs and
Chardonnays that are noted internationally for their pure expression
of fruit, superior balance, silky texture, and classical elegance.
Winemaker
Véronique Drouhin-Boss'
roots go deep - deep into her family's 13th century cellars under the
streets of Beaune, the heart of Burgundy . She represents the fourth
generation of winemakers from this venerable wine family of France ,
but it is here in Oregon that Véronique's skills and passion
are bringing forth some of the most sublime Pinot noir and Chardonnay
produced anywhere.
With centuries of Burgundian winemaking experience flowing through her
blood, not to mention her advanced enology degree from the University
of Dijon, Véronique has lovingly crafted every drop of wine produced
at Domaine Drouhin Oregon since the first vintage in 1988. She seeks
always to capture the essence of what nature has provided in their unique
estate vineyards each year, rather than trying to dictate a particular
style. Véronique herself is the embodiment of the essence of
Pinot noir - spirited, graceful, and feminine. Her wines at Domaine
Drouhin have always been hallmarked by elegance, finesse, purity, and
the capacity to improve gracefully with age.
"Right
from the beginning, one property
seemed to be able to produce a wine
which was purer, more cleanly fruity,
and certainly more Burgundian than the others.
It was, of course, Domaine Drouhin."

Véronique travels frequently between her home on the estate
in Oregon and her home in Beaune. She and her husband have three young
children. Domaine Drouhin's "reserve" bottling is named after
their oldest daughter, Laurène.
David
Millman has just joined DDO as Managing Director, replacing
DDO's friend for life Scott Paul Wright, who has left to pursue his
Scott Paul wines full-time. David comes to the Red Hills from Los Angeles
, where he owned a PR & Marketing firm specializing in wineries
(including DDO) and musicians (Chicago, Sheila E., Acoustic Alchemy,
David Sylvian, Harold Budd). We never told him that it rains here in
Oregon . A lot.
Véronique's
brother Philippe Drouhin is in charge of all Drouhin
estate vineyards in Oregon and in Burgundy , and he travels to Oregon
to fine-tune the vines frequently throughout the year.
Arron
Bell is our Cellarmaster/Chef du Cave, in charge of all winemaking
operations, as well as bottling, facility and site management operations
under the direction of Veronique. Arron joined us in 2002 working in
the cellar with former Cellarmaster, Brad McLeroy. Over the last few
years, he has been promoted through the ranks as Tasting Room Manager
and most recently Hospitality Director, running the wineries direct
sales program. We are very pleased to have him working under the direction
of winemaker, Veronique Drouhin-Boss again. Arron and his wife Ashley
live here in Dundee with their dog Baeli.
Ashley
Bell is our Hospitality Director, welcoming you to our winery
and estate atop the Dundee Hills with a smile, a world of information
and wine knowledge. She looks forward to giving you a private tour of
the winery and estate. Ashley joined us last year as Tasting Room Director
to assist in opening our new Tasting Room and aide in the creation and
development of DDO Direct, our wine club. Ashley lives in Dundee with
her husband Arron.
Jack
Hastings is the newest addition to Team DDO and joins us as the Tasting
Room Manager. With interests in fine food, wine, and the great Oregon
outdoors, along with possessing an intense enthusiasm for Pinot Noir,
Jack is sure to engage you upon your visit to the winery. Jack looks
forward to hosting you either for your first DDO tasting of some of
the best wines the new world can produce, or for a favorite glass of
wine overlooking our Estate vineyards in the Dundee Hills.
The
talented team of Allen Holstein and Tim Scott
is in charge of the estate vineyards on a daily basis. Allen & Tim
oversee a vineyard crew of 10 who do all of the painstaking labor our
high-density plantings require all year-round.
MaryAnn
Coon is our Office Manager, and the cheerful voice that greets
you upon calling Domaine Drouhin. Though new to the wine industry, MaryAnn
has always worked in an international setting and very much looks forward
to continued exposure of a foreign culture in an intriguing industry.
Christian
Groth is our Assistant Cellar Master/Caviste, joining us with
worldwide wine experience including work with nearly two-dozen Willamette
Valley wineries and vineyards, and as a stagiaire in Tuscany and Central
Otago . Christian brings with him wonderful stories from his highly
creative background as a former cartoonist for "Mad" magazine,
and Portland Musician as Singer, Songwriter and Guitarist.
Every
year at harvest time we welcome an international crew to work the harvest
with us, with winemaking and viticulture students and young professionals
from France and Australia joining us this past season.
